easter kids bible storiesEaster is coming folks…but we’ve got a problem. Is anything happening!?

As we saw in the last post (and video) Easter is a massive opportunity to really kick some goals and get Jesus out there... especially for our kids.

But if the status quo remains…our communities could easily be forgiven for thinking Easter isn’t that big a deal to us Christians.

Sadly, too often we all kind of nap on Easter don’t we?

But we wouldn’t be the first to nap on Easter.

There is a scene I draw in one of Anton’s Antics Easter shows called ‘The Biggest’...

The Biggest Problem and the Biggest solution

Peter the fisherman got to hang around with the biggest person of all time for 3 years. He saw Jesus do miracles, heard his wise teaching and witnessed his incredible authority that conquered diseases and natural forces. Yet Peter was caught napping, blind to what Jesus really had to do, to earn His crown of all time greatness.

So a few days before Jesus was sentenced to die on the cross, He took the disciples aside for a quite meal, the Jewish meal of Passover.

Peter was horrified by something Jesus did. What was it?

Jesus took of his robes, basically down to his undies, picked up a wash cloth and began washing all the disciples’ feet.

But when he came to Peter, Peter was disgusted…he wouldn’t let Jesus do it.

Jesus said, unless you let me wash your feet….you can’t be part of my kingdom

For someone so close to Jesus…how could Peter be so far away? He didn’t know…he didn’t understand.

Surely Peter deserved to be part of Jesus’ kingdom. He hung around all the right places with Jesus. He went to ‘church’ everyday…He left his job for Jesus. What was missing?

Peter was like every other person…no matter how much he did; no matter who he hung out with or what he gave up…he still was still a long way short of what God required of a human being. Like you and me …to stand in God’s presence without fear he needed his wrong taken away for good. Our guilt, our ‘wrong’ goes much deeper than just a few things we didn’t get right.

Jesus showed he was willing to do this 'laundering' of Peter’s soul by scrubbing his feet. Washing his dirty feet was only the beginning, soon Jesus would give up his life for him and for you and for me.

It’s easy to be caught napping at Easter isn’t it? We pretend our problem isn’t that deep and forget how big God’s solution really is.

How to not get caught napping on Easter

Mum’s dad’s, we have an opportunity here, to change that, for our church, our schools and our homes.

Easter is our day to begin again. Our big new year’s day…to go back to the beginning, to start afresh.

The opportunity to share the good news is actually bigger than Christmas.

-there’s no big end of year rush.

-people are more willing to reflect.

-its a better spend of church energies and resources

So imagine if our kids had something really cool to look forward to at Easter other than chocolate bunnies?

Imagine if there was something they automatically wanted to invite their friends at school to Easter?

That’s what these posts (and videos) are about and I’ve got some awesome solutions to help you.
