You know, you really shouldn’t go to church this Easter.
That was the title of a blog post I wrote just before Easter last year.
Yes it was cheeky, yes it was a little bit controversial and got a few people talking and yes I was a bit worried about offending people, but sometimes if you’re going to make a difference you need to say things a certain way to cut through all the noise…
‘Why you shouldn’t go to church this Easter’…you can still find it amongst the Purposeful Parenting posts on this blog, with a bunch of ideas, 10 I think that you could try this Easter.
But the obvious one to go for has to be kids. Kids love Easter, just like Christmas. So let’s get really practical:
Now, often ideas require significant work; it means gathering teams together, planning, preparing, motivating people, selling the vision.
Why do all that you may ask, when in Australia we all like to seize the public holidays and go camping? No-one’s going to be around Stephen, so why bother?
Really? No-one will be around? Well they certainly won’t be if we don’t offer them an alternative to going camping. If our peeps have nothing to look forward to at Easter except a long weekend, then you can’t blame them for going camping. But imagine if they had a vision to hang their hat on that really raised the stakes at Easter for their family’s growth and outreach in the community.
A story about stepping up
A few years back I was running a kids and family ministry. I decided to up the ante and put a special event on for kids for Easter Sunday. The others staff members weren’t too enthused but said it was worth a try.
I invited a guest performer and promoted the event through our local schools, families and kids clubs. You know what…normally we got about 65-70 kids on a Sunday but on Easter Sunday we got over 100! Wow.
The staff the next week remarked on how many new faces were at church Easter Sunday…and that was just the adults!
So don’t ever think, Easter is a waste of time. Everyone is not away. Plus the people in the community who come are more willing to hear what Jesus is all about at Easter than at Christmas. So it’s a more responsive audience and that makes it more strategic and a better spend.
So stop your church or school from flogging your budgets at Christmas and keep some room for Easter.
The Live show solution
Anton’s Antics has got some really good news for you:
I’ve got something amazing that will transform your Easter that is just ‘plug in and play’!
I’ve got something that can cut your work load in half, maybe more.
Anton’s Antics has been writing and performing for kids and families for around 7 years now. One of the joys is performing in State schools to hundreds of kids each year for their Special Religious Assemblies Easter assemblies. But I’ve always been at a lost as to why churches don’t connect with this and make more of Easter. I’m not sure private schools do enough to capitalise on Easter either.
Imagine having something that the whole family can enjoy, that your kids will love and easily invite their friends to with the confidence it’s going to be awesome.
Catch a glimpse of a live show here: http://antonsantics.com/live-show.html
Anton’s Antics brings you the complete solution, one that is a tried and tested. Anton’s Easter shows really knock Easter out of the park.
-Your kids are going to love the characters,
-Adults and kids will be totally hooked into the Bible’s message by the story telling and colourful drawings,
- Even the older won’t be able to help themselves as they get lost inside one of Skito’s thumping raps.
Anton’s Antics has been performing amazing shows, helping churches launch new kids clubs, taking the pressure off churches by providing incredible entertainment that really pulls no punches with the truth for the past 7 years. But don’t just believe me; check out what others are saying on our testimonials page, like this one:
“Anton’s Antics not only entertained our kids with great characters but also gave them a solid message about Jesus. The kids didn’t know they were learning as they were laughing! Such a great talent. Anton’s Antics are always welcome at NewDay Church.” Deb Burford, NewDay Church, Figtree, NSW.
Transformation
Imagine the neighbour’s kids or the school kids you invited hearing about Jesus for the first time and loving it. Think of how surprised their parents will be at the staggering quality of entertainment and fun that is injected in a show that teaches everyone all about God’s love this Easter.
Think about how proud you’ll be that you didn’t dose off at Easter, that you pushed a little harder and how Anton’s Antics, made it so much easier for you. Next year will be even better! High 5 team!
But won’t Anton…
say too little – All the shows are prepared from the ground up using the Bible’s original languages and so God’s word permeates every detail. Plus, Anton’s Antics makes sure everything entertains but everything is purposeful.
say too much – sometimes we might worry that a guest entertainer might scare the kids or embarrass us. Don’t worry; there’ll be no fire pits from hell, no gruesome pictures of nails in hands.
fail to hold the audience that big …Anton’s Antics has held groups of kids and adults big and small for over an hour, from 5 up to 1500, so don’t worry, Anton’s got you covered.
“The kids were held in awe by the drawings and of course Anton’s antics. AWESOME!” Vicki Blackwell, SRE assembly, Gordon
But we can’t afford that – if you don’t ask, you can’t receive. So set the vision, ask your punters to support the vision and pretty soon, you’ll be surprised. People love a concrete, time bound way of giving to ministry. So don’t be shy. Be brave and be surprised. Often people are just waiting to be asked to put some of their cash into something tangible that rocks!
Plus it’s good to see this time of year as another way to get other families involved, fundraise, do a car wash or a sausage sizzle after church and raise the money to meet your vision for Easter.
Easter Resources for families, schools and churches
The other thing you’ll need to make the most of Easter is resources that do all the hard work for you but are high quality, fun and inexpensive.
Anton’s Antics also has some incredibly focused, amazing fun resources that are just so inexpensive they’ll make your Easter services, events, school ministries a no brainer; they’re called Sticker Stories.
